The Tour de Toad

On May 4th, 2008 the Faulkner County Literacy Council hosted the Tour de Toad, a bicycle tour through western Faulkner County.  The tour, presented by U.S. Bank, kicked off at 9 a.m. from Conway High School.

Over 150 riders participated.  They all received "toadally" awesome t-shirts custom designed and courtesy of Larry Rogers, owner of EM Jeans.  In addition to the t-shirts, all participants received water bottles donated by Erik Leamon of The Ride, Inc. and Luke Porter of Luke Porter Homes, Inc.  To finish the race in style, participants and their supporters were treated to homemade Jambalaya prepared and provided by Troy and Angie Kelehan of Subsurface Tools, Inc. To sweeten the deal, The Brewery provided cookies and tea!

At the end of the day, over $5000 was raised for the Faulkner County Literacy Council.

"It was a beautiful day for a ride and the fact that we were riding to support literacy made it even better," commented a husband and wife from Missouri.

The moral of the story:  Faulkner County Literacy Council plans to make this an annual event.  If you didn't catch The Tour de Toad this time around, keep an eye out for it next year!

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!
